From Curtis, it means a lot!!

I have been saving my sticker for the best spot and today I put it on my bike. I did not get to know Jeff that long but I can tell you this. We had alot in common the 3 most were Harley's,Hot rods (new or old) and Johnny Cash.. We talked a few times about making the Social Distortion or Mike Ness concerts together but our schedules were never the same. We spoke a few times about looking for a Harley for him once everything was clear for him and he never got the chance. So now I will keep his thoughts with me on our favorite topics as I ride my Harley and Shaking things up!..

Trick or Treat

Last Night we had a fun Halloween Party. It was the first time I have had all my Grandkids together on Halloween (sort of- at least it was Oct. and they were all in their costumes.) Since J is going to be in the hospital on Halloween, we took the kids trick-or-treating to the neighbors on my street. My neighbors were all very generous most of them substituted the candy I gave them to pass out for much better stuff. The kids had so much fun. They were all so stinkin cute!! I have adorable Skeleton, Strawberry, Incredible-Superhero, Tinkerbell, Dragon, Turtle, Tiger, Bunny- Grandchildren. Afterward Jeff gave Carter, Kennedy, and Emily wonderful blessings. Then Bruce gave Jeff a really nice blessing. (it was a tear jerker)
Bruce and I visited Jeff at the hospital (City of Hope at Banner Samaritan in downtown Phx) His spirits were good. They hadn't started the chemo drugs yet. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers.

IT"S SNOWING!! (in ID)

Yea!!!! It's snowing in Heyburn!! Mike has a fire burning in the woodburning stove, the kids are out in the yard having snowball fights, and it's all warm and toasty in here. Tonight we will be having deer for dinner, as Mike and Zach left at 4:30 this morning to go hunting and by 7:30 had a deer. What a great day.

Since some of you could not attend Jami's wedding i thought i would give you a little taste of that wonderful day!!

Summer's almost over!! Thank goodness!!

It's been a long summer, and a fun summer for the Higley bunch. Ethan's job on the farm ended because his boss went on a mission for the church. After being unemployed for awhile, he found the 'dream' job. He is a personal gardener for a successful businessman who lives on Pelican Point on the Snake River. He mows his lawn, maintains the sprinkler system, does other 'gardner' things, like clean his boat and wash his airplane. Then he gets paid to ride the boat on the river, and his boss flew him to Twin Falls for lunch at the airport. How would it be??? He, also has his own shop, with a stocked fridge, microwave and choice of a 4-wheeler, golf cart, and a mule to ride while doing his 'job'. He's making more than Mom. Too bad his job ends when school starts. He has also been mowing Grandpa McBride's lawn, and the neighbor who lives in Toolson's old house. He bought a nicer pickup with all that moolah he's been earning, an extended cab Chevy. He'll be a Senior this year.
Zach & Zeb are moving handlines on a farm north of Paul. It's been a long summer for them. They learned the importance of sunblock, especially Zeb, with that red hair and fair skin.
Landon has been staying with Jonathan's wife Crystal, until Mike get's home. Thank goodness for a wonderful daughter-in-law.
We took a wonderful vacation to Jackson Hole on the 4th of July. This time we got to stay more than just overnight, which is usually how it is, because one of us usually has to go to work.
We stayed 4 days and three nights. It was great!! The fireworks were beautiful as they are every year. The weather was great and the Tetons were majestic!! They were still covered with snow and beautiful. The Pallisades was sooo full!!
We decided to ride Snow King to the top and WALK down. It was one of the funnest things I have ever done. It was so pretty and all the locals were so friendly. Sure my legs were killing me, but I loved every minute of it. If I lived there, I'd walk it everyday. When Jen shows me how to post pictures on here I will post some of the Tetons and a really cute one of Ethan and Landon walking down Snow King.
The grandkids are growing and Jon and Crystal just had a family picture taken. We'll have to post that, too. Michael will be one on Oct. 4th. That year flew by. Skylar just caught her first fish with Jonathan while we were fishing this last weekend. She had a ball!! She reminds me soo much of Jenn.

It was nice to see Melanie and Puyal's family this summer. Looking forward to seeing you all at Jami's wedding.

One of the many great things we got to do this summer was go to the Grand Canyon.  We had a blast.  Sally's son Robby went with us too.  We drove up from Mesa just days after flying in from Shanghai.   It was hot and we were jet-lagged, but we had fun.  It is so amazing it was worth it.  This was our last vacation before we dropped Nicole off at college.  I can't believe she is in college!    We miss her very much.

Hole in ONE!

Hey everyone! We had some exciting news while Terry, Anthony and Caleb were at Boy Scout Summer camp, Tanner shot a Hole in ONE! He was on the 17th hole at the Preston Golf course, and hit from the red tees with his driver. This is the photo we gave to the local paper to publish his results.

He did this on Tuesday July 8th, which was also Kristi's birthday!

Carter McBride

Last Sunday evening our Grandson Carter (Jeff's son) who is 4, was holding the leash of my nephew Tyler's Boxer, it took off and poor Carter fell or was pulled (no one saw it happen) and broke his arm- 2 breaks. They had to go to two hospitals to get it set. They didn't get home until 2:30 am. Next Monday he will get his permanent cast. Jeff and Emily have sure spent a lot of time in Emergency rooms these last 2 years.

Gympie

This is me with my 2nd cousin Patty. Patty left Ariz. when she was 11 and has been in Aust. ever since. She is  truly an outback women. She now lives in Gympie which is on the east coast. Kunnunurra is in the Northwest. She has 10 acres 2 houses (small but nice they use rainwater for drinking and household use), she has 5 horses. She paid $575,000 for her property and houses. It is beautiful, green rolling hills, right by a quaint little town where she works as a nurse. Maybe we should all move to Australia!!!

There were 16 of us on the trip. My Parents are very generous and paid for our airline flights, and have promised all the grandchildren a trip ( I know the one's that didn't go felt left out)  The bottom picture are some of the cousins on the trip.  My cousin in Kununurra (where the farm is) knew a lady who takes care of baby Kangaroos who have lost their Mom's so we go to go play with them. We also stayed with my cousin in Gympie Aust. We watched big Kangaroos hopping in the field by her home, I will post a picture Bruce took of them.

Australia Trip

We had a wonderful trip, we have horrible jet lag but it was worth it. Wow, two fabulous trips in one year. No more vacations for us for a long time. (Except for Idaho, Aug/Sept) The middle picture is the farm, it is so beautiful. The bottom one is Bruce and Jan Scuba Diving on the Great Barrier Reef. 

Graduation!

Nicole is graduating from high school!  After 4 high schools and 3 countries it is finally done!  She has worked very hard for this. She is an amazing girl. We are so proud!  She has one last presentation today, then tomorrow she will receive an award before graduation. (We don't yet know what award.)  Then graduation! We are so happy and excited.  She just finished a great internship in AZ.  Thanks to Uncle Bruce and Aunt Jan for picking her up at the airport in AZ!  Also Mom and Dad for taking care of her both ways at O'Hare!  They are the best grandparents.  

She will start college this summer at BYU-I.  She wants to study nursing.  We are amazed at her....everything!

Australia

Bruce, Katie and I are headed off to Australia tomorrow. We will be in Sydney, Darwin, Kununurra (where the Hancock farm is), Port Douglas (the great barrier reef), Brisbane and Gympie (where my cousin lives-our fathers went over together to homestead the land. My Dad came back, her family settled there. She is now a true Australian) I'll post pictures when we get back.

We are praying for Grandpa McBride that all will go well with his surgery tomorrow. We love you all!!

Cloisonne Vase

I purchased this vase 15 years ago at an auction, I never knew much about how it was made just that is was called Cloisonne, in China we visited a Cloisonne factory and watched cloisonne being made. It was very interesting, it is an elaborate and complicated process. So now Bruce can forgive me for getting carried away and buying it at the auction. I've always liked it but now I appreciate it's beauty even more knowing what goes into making it.

The interview from....well, you know.

So Tuesday I had a very intimidating-and long-interview at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Princeton, New Jersey. The interview was from 9 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. and consisted of 8 individual interviews with the "high-ups", a tour of the laboratory and a business lunch with 4 people I would potentially work with. To sum up how the day went, during one of the mini-interviews with THE group director head lady, a bird ran into the window and killed itself right in front of us. Not a good sign.

I always tend to think things go worse when they've actually gone well, though. Apparently this was another one of these instances, as I received word that I got the job! The official offer will come out next week. And although I will now be driving 87 miles (each way) from home 5 days a week until I can figure things out, this is a HUGE step up for me in the field, financially, and in terms of my personal standards...and sanity. I have heard that these companies take very good care of their employees, and I'm so excited to start!

Anyway, thanks for all your support and prayers and such, because honestly with the flustered interview I needed every bit of it!

Oh, and I don't really ENJOY talking about this nor do I think it's particularly personal to do it online, but I wanted input on an idea I ran across the other day and this is the best way to run it across everyone. Has anyone heard of a living funeral and what's the opinion on doing one for Grandpa McBride?

I know that for me, being so far out here, I can only make it out to Idaho once and I'd rather do it when I can see him, talk to him, and let HIM know how I feel.

I don't mean to throw a wrench into things, as I can presume arrangements may have already been made. Just an idea...let me know what you think.
