Whitney turned 14 this weekend! She had a birthday/slumber party. We planned the party for her and her best friend, Minjung. Minjung had never received a birthday present, had a party or birthday cake in her life! It was funny watching her open gifts. She didn't know how to pretend she liked the presents!

Dear Family,

Nicole has great news everyone!  She has been accepted to BYU Idaho!  We are so proud of her!  We are so excited about school we have already bought our tickets home for the summer.  We will be in the states for 2 months.  I will give you dates, later.

We are back in Shanghai.  Japan was a great vacation!  We took the kids to the Toyota Museum, the Nagoya Castle, the Nagoya Aquarium and most importantly, Tokyo Disneyland! It was really cold and snowing, but we had fun.

  Ethan, our 5 year old, loved Japan.  We think it is because he is crazy for sushi!  

Back in Shanghai, we are still 'enjoying' the Chinese New Year.  Enjoying, if you like being woken up in the middle of the night by fireworks.  It was midnight last night when the biggest bunch went off in our compound.  I understand the holiday thing, but has been going on for a week now!  I am looking forward to the end of the festivities and more sleep!

Please someone send me an email if this gets posted.  I think I have found a back way to post, but I haven't found a way to view the GO McBride site yet here in China.  I will keep working on it.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to take a shower while any of my kids are awake. If Kennedy is awake she just sits at the shower and cries because she wants to get in. If Carter's awake he is setting off the alarm or worse: this...

(The following events took place Wed. 2/6/08 around 10:45am)
I had only been out of the shower for a mere 5 min. when Carter comes up the stairs to tell me that his camera was cooking. What did he mean his camera was cooking? I told him to quickly show me where his camera was. I walked into the kitchen with the smell of something burning permeating my nose. Oh, no! I looked over at the toaster oven to see the camera in side and the coils red hot. I opened the door to the toaster oven and grabbed an oven mitt. But I was too late. He had changed the setting to the hottest darkest possible. As I watched the cord finish melting the camera stopped it's recording (Yes it was still recording during cooking). I couldn't believe that Carter would do such a thing. I sent him to his room and I called Jeff in tears. His camera was ruined and all because of a dumb idea. Not to mention that if the batteries had exploded they could have injured or killed him. Jeff tried to comfort me by telling me that the he probably just wanted to watch the video of what his camera looked like while COOKING IN THE TOASTER OVEN. That didn't help me feel any better. He had just destroyed something he had only had for over month. This was the camera that he was so excited about and couldn't talk about anything else for months. This was the only thing he wanted Santa to bring him and the thing he loved the most. Now it was gone melted. And to top it all off when asked if he was sad about the camera being broken his reply was "No". Just a matter of fact as that. Every time I thought about it yesterday I wanted to cry. I still want to cry. I know its just a material object and he was just experimenting. At least that's all I hope it was, but still part of me wonders where I went wrong. I've told him numerous times to stay away from the toaster oven and even had it unplugged at times. Although I'm convinced that had it been unplugged he still would've pushed a chair over plugged it in and turned it on. I know all kids destroy stuff and that is how they learn. For his sake I hope he gets into film. I know Jeff ruined a couple of his parents computers but that's his job now. But, my heart still aches whenever I think about what he's done. I know I've got a lot more ahead of me and well, that scares me! Well, today Jeff took the camera to work and took it apart and the thing still works! Granted you have to hold one of the battery cases shut but the inside stuff still works and it will turn on! That is one tough camera. Do you think maybe they tested it in a toaster oven when they were marketing it? Someday I'll be able to laugh about this...

Hello from PA

Hello family! I am glad to see there is now a way I can feel the Midwest/Western warmth of family while I'm stuck out here in the East.

Nothing much has changed since I graduated. I work as a chemist at the PA Equine Toxicology & Research Lab where I test racehorse urine and plasma for the presence of performance-enhancing drugs. (Ever heard the expression "I have to pee like a racehorse"? Yeah...I know why that exists now...) I am beginning to realize all the opportunities that are offered through the position, and have recently started to take advantage of them: continuing education, memberships to professional organizations, mileage reimbursement...yay!

I hope to take the GRE's soon and apply to a PhD program at the University of Pennsylvania (it would be free since I am employed by them)...however I have been toying with the idea of moving West and working with Terry. More on that as it evolves. (Yeah Terry...I'll call this weekend I swear, I was really busy last weekend. Sorry)

I am lucky to be able to afford my new car (thanks Terry...haha) and I live in a very nice apartment with a great friend, Emily, a fellow chemist with whom I graduated. And since I feel left out with all the pictures of everyone's children...I have attached a picture of my roommate and I ACTING like children. Close enough!

Snapp Family moves to Idaho

Dearest Family!

This is a great way to stay in touch. This photo was taken after we first moved to Idaho in March. As you can see, the kids were so excited to be there!

Let's just give you all a quick run-down of the family, Anthony is 12, Caleb is 11, Tanner is 8, Braeden is not in the photo, but is 6, Raegan is 3 and Karlie will soon turn 3.

Kristi and I are enjoying our home, it's nice to have all the moving in work done. Still getting a grip on the garage and food storage.

We have enjoyed this winter, even with all the snow that Idaho has seen. Our driveway has piles 5 feet tall on each side!

Here is a picture of my new little guy, he will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. He had a very rough start with pneumonia but now is doing great. We went to his doctor today and his lungs are completely clear and his weight gain is great. He just loves to eat. I am glad to have him home and healthy. He is laying on the quilt my mom made for him.

Dear Family

We are excited to have the opportunity to say in touch with family members through modern technology. I appreciate that Jan made the effort to start this blog. My only regret is that the Glen McBrides don't have the internet to see this themselves! Maybe we can work on that.
I'm just getting up the courage to go outside and take the snowblower to the driveway and face another four inches of snow added to the 10 inches of last week. This is when I long for freedom to go to Arizona.
Looking forward to hearing from, and seeing others.

Hello Dear Family...

The prospect of communicating with our extended family from around the world is very exciting!  The Bang Family currently lives in Shanghai, China.  We are on vacation in Nagoya, Japan this week for the Chinese New Year.  We got out of Shanghai just in time...  Paul had to work the holiday here in Japan so we decided to join him.  About our family.... Nicole is 17 and will graduate this year!  Whitney is 13, she plays violin.  Tyler is 10, he plays cello and Ethan is 5 he is in Kindergarten.  We hope to make it out to Utah and AZ this summer.  Paul's sister is expecting in April so we can't wait to come and see our newest niece.
